Individual Counselling

Space just for you

Individual counselling offers you a private, calm, and completely confidential space to explore whatever is troubling you, free from the pressures and expectations of everyday life. You will be listened to, without judgement, at your own pace.

What It Involves

Counselling that puts you at the centre

Individual counselling is a one-to-one relationship between you and me, a trained, experienced therapist who is here entirely for you. It is a dedicated time, away from everyday life, where your thoughts, feelings, and concerns take centre stage.

This is not advice-giving, and it is not about being told what to do. It is about being genuinely heard, often for the first time, and supported to understand yourself and your situation more clearly. From that understanding, real change becomes possible.

I work with individuals aged 16 and above, bringing a warm, integrative approach that is shaped around your specific needs rather than a one-size-fits-all model.

Completely confidential

What you share stays in the room. I will explain the very limited exceptions clearly before we begin.

Free from judgement

You can say the things you have never been able to say to anyone else. There is no wrong way to feel here.

Shaped around you

Every person is unique. I tailor my approach to what you bring, what you need, and what feels right for you.

At your own pace

There is no pressure, no agenda, and no fixed timeline. We move as slowly or as deeply as feels right for you.

"You will be listened to — which will help you feel supported and not alone, during this time away from everyday life."

— Karen Swarbrick

Issues I Can Help With

Whatever has brought you here, you do not need to face it alone

People come to individual counselling for many different reasons. Some arrive knowing exactly what they need to work on; others simply know that something does not feel right. Both are entirely valid, and both are welcome.

Not sure if your concern is on this list?

This list is not exhaustive, if something is troubling you and you do not see it here, please do still get in touch. I am happy to have an initial conversation about whether I can help.

Anxiety & Depression

Whether you are experiencing persistent worry, low mood, panic, or a sense of hopelessness, counselling can help you understand what is driving these feelings and find new ways to manage and move through them.

Grief, Loss & Bereavement

Loss takes many forms, the death of a loved one, infant loss, termination, the end of a relationship, or the loss of identity. I offer a gentle, unhurried space to grieve in whatever way you need to.

Trauma & PTSD

Living with the effects of trauma or abuse can be exhausting and isolating. I work at a pace that feels safe for you, helping you to process difficult experiences without feeling overwhelmed.

Life Transitions & Identity

Major life changes, a new job, relationship ending, becoming a parent, or simply a sense that something needs to shift, can leave us feeling lost. Counselling can help you find your footing again.

What You Can Expect From Me

My commitment to you, every session

From your very first session, there are things I promise to bring to our work together, not as a formality, but as the foundation of a relationship built on genuine trust and care.

To truly listen

Not to respond, not to fix, but to genuinely hear what you are saying, and what you might not yet be able to say. Being truly heard is the beginning of change.

Warmth and empathy

I am a quiet, warm, and genuinely empathic person. You will never feel like a case to be solved, you will feel like a human being who matters.

Complete confidentiality

Everything shared stays within the session. I will be transparent about the very limited circumstances under which confidentiality could be broken, so there are no surprises.

A tailored approach

I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and choose what fits you, not what fits a textbook. Your sessions will be shaped around your needs, personality, and goals.

Your pace, always

We go as slowly or as deeply as feels right for you. You are always in control of what we explore, and when.

Professional accountability

As a registered NCPS member working within a full ethical framework, you can be confident that your wellbeing and safety underpin everything I do.
